welcome

Thanks for stopping by, I'm heading in a new direction these days. While I will still feature photography here and there, I also find I have a lot to say. I hope you enjoy.

My Muse

For those that do not know my hubs and my journey to parenthood, well, that's a really long story. An eight and a half yearlong story! My little Vermonter, Harper, is this blog post's star. She is one of my favorite people to be around and she brings so much joy to our lives (and humor). We recently went to the Memphis Zoo. Okay, okay, we FREQUENTLY go to the Memphis Zoo. Harper and I always have a blast, and usually we meet up with some of her little friends while we are there. I borrowed a lens for my camera from my friend, Jana, who incidentally has a blog you should check out here. It was a super fun day with lots of candid shots. Here are just a few of my faves.

Home Sweet Home

The Wests have had many changes in 2011. New baby, new house & new city. They just so happened to move right down the street from us, and so we are thrilled to welcome them to their first Memphis home, and into the neighborhood we have come to love. It seemed like the right thing to do, having the photos of this family taken in and around their new home. Congrats, you guys! You have handled major changes with style and grace.

BabyGap

This was an impromptu little session. My daughter is the one that has nicknamed this little cutie "Baby Gap". He is such a happy baby and you can tell his mama is doing a fabulous job taking care of him. I always enjoy seeing them both and getting to know them better and better.

Greenline in Spring is a beautiful thing

If you know Kyle, then you know he tends to be less than serious sometimes. (Or you could just assume that from the above photo.) This made pictures with his family so much fun! He said that one of his favorite things is anything outdoors, and he loves that his son is old
enough now that he is able to teach him about outdoorsy stuff. Being that both my family and theirs live on the V&E Greenline, it made perfect sense to take our shots there. Enjoy.

y el bebe' hace tres!

It was love at first frosty with these guys. Introduced by mutual friends at Wendy's right after we moved back to Memphis. That's all it took. Their sassiness was the perfect complement to ours! Kelly and Paul met while both were living in Spain, fell madly in love and then got married there. Neither had lived in Memphis before, but felt called to this wonderful city, and am I glad! Along comes "Baby JJ" (as they called him in utero-not knowing whether he was a girl or boy) and you can tell the amount of amor they have both for each other as well as for little Joshua. Congrats, you guys!

Happy Anniversary, Beeps

Back in Memphis for our 14 year anniversary. We had a wonderful afternoon and evening. Anyone with a small child can appreciate the simple joys that we shared, BOTH of us being able to browse at Best Buy without having to keep up with a 3 year old, going to a movie during the DAY, not needing extra napkins at YoLo, and then ending the day downtown. Enjoyed a fabulous veggie sandwich at Beignet Cafe (and of course, beignets) and then laughing at each other trying to not kill ourselves on the the rocks while we set the timer and ran to our places to get the above shot at sunset. Seriously, I have the best hubs a girl could hope for and he loves me to pieces. With all the ups and downs of life, we are grateful for the grace that God has given to us to handle both, and we usually enjoy ourselves no matter what we are up to. That's what friends are for.

Back In Time

My long time clients and friends, Luke and Tanika along with their super cute son, Mark, seem like a great place to begin. This photo session was our yearly endeavor pre-Vermont, and so it was perfectly natural to start our annual tradition up again upon my family's return to Memphis. I love to try and be the silent observer as I shoot, let life happen around me and then capture that essence. They chose to go back to the first location we ever met on, before Mark was born. Some of my favorite people to photograph-ever. Love you guys! :)

firsts can be scary

First kiss, first time being a mom, first house. All are exciting, but can also be a little scary. This is my first blog post and hopefully as the days of 2011 tick by, there will be more to come. I plan to share about my life as a mom and as a photographer getting back in the saddle again, as they say.

Keep checking back.
